Combined Arts (A Place for Education, Exhibition and Research)
The Fundació Antoni Tàpies develops the project Combined Arts (A Place for Education, Exhibition and Research), which will give visitors access to the institution’s documentation through a physical space in the building and via a platform on the web. The Fundació aims to preserve and disseminate all the museum’s relevant documents and material, as well as its educational resources, in order to facilitate research and experimentation into contemporary art and the work of Antoni Tàpies.
The area Combined Arts will be a platform for collective work that will allow the Fundació to relate to its visitors, researchers and collaborators, and to share, disseminate and update the contents that the museum has generated through all its functions and activities. Combined Arts will also be a project of reference in the development of digital platforms for access to cultural contents through the processes of direct participation by the visitors.
The project will be developed over a period of three years, from 2009 to 2011, in collaboration with the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and the Universitat Politècnica de València, and with the financial support of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce through the Plan Avanza 2.
During the process of development and implementation of the Combined Arts project, the Fundació will organise symposia, conferences and working days that will be open to the public and will create a context of analysis and reflection in relation to the conceptual and thematic axes of the project. Along these same lines, another web platform has been created as a working space in progress that will remain open over the project’s three-year period of construction, and where all the material generated by its participants will be published. This website is also a communication tool to share and disseminate the processes of work and creation, as well as the results of the different investigations carried out within the framework of the project.
Following the same lines of research of Combined Arts, further projects of the Fundació will also be developed, such as Rear Window, an online dossier that shows the process of creation and design of the Archive-Thesaurus project.
The Combined Arts (A Place for Education, Exhibition and Research) project is witness to the Fundacio’s desire to use the new technologies in order to create new forms of relationships with the cultural contents, and to allow for an articulation of a transversal, critical and participatory discourse, in line with the social commitment of the institution.
