Bruce Conner deconstructed and experimented with archival imagery, both from the past and from the mass culture of his time, remixing them into poetic and subversive pieces, with hybrid formats and using perceptual games. In this workshop, we will appropriate images from past and present newspapers, photographs and magazines to mix them with fragments of text, drawings and soundtracks to create accidents, accumulations and new meanings. Based on intuitive exercises, chance or restrictions, we will explore collage’s techniques and methods for getting on the train to where everything is possible, referring to the title of the film Take the 5:10 to Dreamland.
