Marcel Broodthaers. Cinéma
Broodthaers interest in the cinema predated his self-declaration as an artist in 1964. Rejecting the concerns of Nouvelle Vague European cineastes and equally at odds with the avant-garde artists of the 1960s who were beginning to realize works in film and video, Broodthaers remained captivated by the joyous anarchy of slapstick and crude fantasy of the films of the silent era. An overview of the many short films made in conjunction with his exhibitions throughout Europe including a broad collection of photos, drawings, objects, and film-stills.
