Caroline Bergvall

International writer and artist, working across art forms, media and languages. Projects alternate between books, audio pieces, performances and language installations. Caroline Bergvall’s work champions notions of language and performativity; bilingualism and textual speech; new literacies; language politics and citizenry, audiovisual inscription. Her latest book, Meddle English: New and Selected Texts (Nightboat Books, 2011), is currently being translated into French. Latest solo commission: Middling English (John Hansard Gallery). Previous projects at: Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; The Serpentine Gallery, London; Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York; DIA Art Foundation, New York; Museum of Contemporary Arts, Antwerp; Arnolfini Gallery, Bristol.
