Sokari Douglas Camp

Sokari Douglas Camp was born in Nigeria in 1958, the daughter of Kalabaris, an ethnic group living in the Niger Delta. She first studied in her country of origin and later in the United States and England, where she lives now. She has had exhibitions all over the world and among other prizes has been awarded the Henry Moore Bursary.

Douglas Camp presented two works at Fundació Antoni Tàpies, Church Ede and Alali Aru, both inspired by Kalabari practices. She talked about her work in general and these two pieces in particular.
