Dore Ashton

She is Professor of Art History at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York and reader at Columbia University, the City University of New York and the Pratt Institute. She was associate editor of Art Digest and, from 1955 to 1960, art critic of The New York Times. She is the author of books and articles on modern art and biographies of famous artists. Among her most notable publications are Abstract Art Before Columbus (1957), Poets and the Past (1959), Philip Guston (1960), The Unknown Shore.
