Activity with Open Arms in the context of the exhibition John Akomfrah. Vertigo Sea.
Vertigo Sea, a work by John Akomfrah, explores mankind’s relationship to the sea. A relationship that has often been difficult, since the sea, from times immemorial, is a place where many people have lost their lives.
To accompany the exhibition, we are offering an activity in which we will reflect on some of the issues raised by the work, such as climate change and migration. We will begin by watching a section of the film. Next, led by Open Arms activist Ángeles Schjaer, we will carry out an activity that aims to generate empathy and critical thinking through the testimonies of people who have taken to the sea as the only alternative to protect the most fundamental right of all, life.
