FAQ

How can I use the Library?

The Library is open by appointment only. Capacity is limited.

Appointments can be arranged in this form or calling +34 934 870 315 at least 48 hours in advance, and must be confirmed. 

 

If you are unable to come, please let us know as soon as possible to reschedule your appointment.

 

All Library materials must be requested a minimum of 48 hours in advance. You can search the online Library catalogue.

 

Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

 

How do I get to the Library?

The Library is located in the Fundació Antoni Tàpies building, Aragó 255 08007 Barcelona. For directions by metro, bus, or car click here.

 

 

What is allowed in the Library?

You can bring a laptop, notebooks, notes, paper, pencils, digital media and mobile phones. Mobile phones must be silenced and may not be used in the exhibition rooms.

 

All bags (including handbags and computer cases), parcels, books, magazines, folders, etc. must be left in the museum Reception. The use of personal stereos, cameras and tape recorders is not permitted.

 

No glue, ink supplies, correction fluid, scissors, or any substance or equipment which could damage a book are allowed in the Library. Sticky notes may not be used because they cause long-term damage to paper. Tracing is strictly forbidden; readers are not permitted to make any marks on works belonging to the Library. 

 

No food or drink (including mineral water) is allowed in the Library.

 

May I use my laptop in the Library?

Yes, laptops may be used in the Library.

 

May I connect to the Internet?

Yes, via the Library Wi-Fi. You can request the password to the Librarians.

 

May I borrow from the Library?

No, all books and other materials are for use within the Library only.

 

May I put materials on reserve?

Yes, books can be reserved for one week. Special materials and the latest issues of magazines cannot be reserved.

 

May I photocopy Library materials?

The photocopier is temporarily out of order. Ask the Librarians for photocopies.

 

For conservation reasons the Librarians will decide which materials are too rare or fragile to be photocopied. 

 

May I photograph Library materials?

Yes, but as long as the materials are in good condition and the copying process does not affect their preservation. Copies, whether photographs, photocopies, or other reproductions, may be subject to copyright laws. Images may be used only for private study, scholarship, or research. Any other use, including reproduction or publication, requires the permission of the copyright holder.

 

Copies of special materials require the staff permission. It is not allowed to photograph Archive documents.

 

How can I found a book?

You may request items online using the Library catalogue click here.

Librarians can assist you with your search and will prepare the books for you.

 

Books should be left on the tables. Before leaving the Library, readers must return any items from the Reserve section.

 

May I use the Library’s audiovisual materials?

Videos can be viewed at the Library’s video player. CD and DVD players are also available.

 

May I search the Library catalogue on the Internet?
