Besòs Youth Parliament
Third legislature. Closing session
With the support of Institut d’Educació of the Ajuntament de Barcelona, Departament de Cultura i Mitjans de Comunicació of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and the organisations forming part of the Fórum de la Ribera del Besòs.
The Besòs Youth Parliament is a project aimed at providing practical education in democracy by teaching participants about the culture of assembly, representation and political negotiation. This experimental initiative in citizen education is currently growing, embracing primary and secondary schools in an urban area undergoing rapid transformation: the city’s sea front, between the Ciutadella Park and the River Besòs.
On June 7, after the debates at the schools, the committees and the Parliamentary plenary session in May, the closing debate will take place, including a vote on the final document, entitled La ciutat, un dret de Tots (The City, a Right for All). You are invited to this debate, which will also be attended by members of the political parties the Catalan Parliament, representatives from the local authorities in Barcelona and Sant Adrià and by all interested members of the public.
The initiative, launched by the Institut Barri Besòs and Fundació Antoni Tàpies (under the Education Programme of the Urban Majorities 1900-2025 Project) is part of the City of Barcelona Education Project (the Citizenship and Education initiative), in cooperation with the organisations forming part of the Ribera del Besòs Forum and is supported by the Autonomous Government of Catalonia Ministries of Education and Culture and the Media.
